When it comes to third-party funding, our experts advise and support ranges from application to approval. Our goals and tasks can be divided into four core tasks, which are reflected in the navigation. Our service is available to KIT employees.

At an awards ceremony held on September 18, 2025, Dr. Jingyuan Xu from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was honored with the “For Women in Science” sponsorship award in recognition of her pioneering research into environmentally friendly cooling technologies. Together with three other female scientists from Germany, she received the EUR 25,000 award, which is offered by L’Oréal, the German Commission for UNESCO, and the German Humboldt Network. Since its launch in 1998, the programme’s goal has been to raise the visibility of excellent women in science worldwide. / 10.2025

Junior Professor Manuel Krannich, Institute of Algebra and Geometry (IAG) at KIT, has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) amounting to €1.5 million for five years to realize his project "Manifolds and Functor Calculus" (MaFC). The MaFC project focuses on manifolds and functor calculus and aims to uncover new connections between the symmetries of high-dimensional manifolds and the laws of algebra. / 09.2025

KIT scientists recently succeeded with two proposals for “Clusters of Excellence”. This achievement was made possible by the outstanding work of KIT researchers in collaboration with strong partners. The decision to fund the clusters “Post Lithium Storage” (POLiS) and “3D Matter Made to Order” (3DMM2O) comes with multi-million euro funding for another seven years.
The two cluster spokespersons Helmut Ehrenberg and Martin Wegener explain in interviews what the funding means for their research, what goals the clusters have now set themselves and what the path to the future will look like. / 08.2025

On May 22, 2025, the Excellence Commission announced its decisions for the first funding line of the Excellence Strategy. The two selected clusters will each receive up to 70 million euros in funding over a period of seven years. This also significantly enhances KIT’s prospects of continuing to hold the title of Excellence University.
In the Cluster of Excellence “Post Lithium Storage” (POLiS), KIT is working together with the universities of Gießen and Ulm on groundbreaking solutions for electrochemical energy storage. The Cluster of Excellence “3D Matter Made to Order” (3DMM2O), in collaboration with Heidelberg University, focuses on innovative 3D printing technologies at the smallest scales./ 06.2025
